Privacy & GDPR policy
This policy explains how Kafu Safaris handles personal data when you browse our website, send a safari enquiry, request a quotation, or communicate with our team. Kafu Safaris, based in Kampala, Uganda, is the controller responsible for that processing.
1. Information we collect
- Enquiry and contact details: your name, email address, phone number, travel dates, group size, destination and activity interests, accommodation preferences, budget information, message, and related correspondence.
- Booking and travel details: if planning progresses, information needed to prepare a quotation, arrange suppliers, administer payments and support the trip. Please do not send passport, health or payment information unless our team asks for it through an appropriate channel.
- Technical and usage information: with analytics consent, a visitor or session identifier, pages viewed, referring page, campaign parameters, browser, device type, operating system, approximate country and a protected hash derived from the IP address may be recorded.
- Information from third parties: details supplied by a person organising travel for a group, and messages you choose to send through services such as WhatsApp or social networks.
2. Why we use personal data
We use data to answer enquiries, prepare and revise itineraries and quotations, take steps requested before a contract, administer a confirmed trip, communicate service information, keep business and financial records, protect the website, prevent misuse, resolve disputes, and—only with consent—measure and improve website performance or run configured marketing technology.
3. Legal bases
Depending on the activity and the law that applies, we rely on steps requested before entering a contract or performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the business and responding to travellers, and consent for non-essential analytics or marketing technologies. You may withdraw consent at any time through .
4. Who receives information
Access is limited to people who need it. We may share relevant information with our staff and service providers, and—when necessary to prepare or deliver an itinerary—with independent lodges, transport operators, guides, activity providers and other travel suppliers. Hosting, email, analytics and communications providers may process data for us. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect legal rights.
We do not sell or rent personal data. Links to WhatsApp, TripAdvisor and social networks take you to third-party services governed by their own privacy terms.
5. International transfers
Kafu Safaris operates in Uganda and arranges travel across East Africa. Your data may therefore be processed outside your home country, including outside the European Economic Area. Where GDPR applies, we use an available lawful transfer mechanism and appropriate safeguards for relevant service-provider transfers.
6. Retention
We keep enquiry, quotation, booking and correspondence records only as long as reasonably needed for planning, service delivery, legal, accounting, tax, dispute and fraud-prevention purposes. First-party analytics records are configured for daily deletion after no more than 395 days. A shorter or longer period may apply where the law requires it or a claim must be handled.
7. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal data; object to certain processing; receive portable data; or withdraw consent. You may also complain to the Uganda Personal Data Protection Office or, where GDPR applies, to the data-protection authority in your country. We do not use solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects for travellers.

8. Security and children
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect data, but no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Our services are intended for adults arranging travel. A parent or guardian should provide any information needed about a child travelling in their group.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices or legal obligations change. The date at the top identifies the current version.
