Rules and Regulations of Chimpanzee Trekking

    1. Permits: A trekking permit is required for all participants, which helps regulate the number of visitors and fund conservation efforts.
    2. Group Size: Treks are limited to small groups, usually not exceeding 8 people, to minimize stress on the chimpanzees and reduce environmental impact.
    3. Distance: Trekkers must maintain a distance of at least 8 meters (26 feet) from the chimpanzees to prevent the transmission of diseases.
    4. Health Precautions: Visitors should not trek if they are sick, as chimpanzees are susceptible to human diseases. Wearing masks may be required.
    5. Time Limit: Interaction with the chimpanzees is limited to one hour to minimize disturbance.
    6. Behavior: Trekkers should avoid making loud noises, sudden movements, and direct eye contact with the chimpanzees to avoid provoking aggression.
    7. Photography: Flash photography is not allowed as it can startle the chimpanzees.
